We think the better way to develop a new concept of winery is starting from grape.
Grape cycle defines Valpolicella landscape with row directions and colour changing during the year.
We create a winery that shows these elements.
A wall of grapes grows up in the core of the project, between the old and the new building.
Throught glass walls this element is visible from the street and show the cycle of grape, changing
the colour perception of the building season by season.
Around that cycle we develop the wine cycle, creating the new production area and opened views
in the old one.
Wine cycle is usually incomplete in wineries and produces marcs as production waste. We decide
to finish the cycle design a distillery that uses marcs to create a new product which could be the
new “manifesto” for a sustainable winery. The space of the distillery can also be used for a future
extension of the winery.
Valpolicella landscape in this area is interrupted by the street and by the winery itself. The new green
roof wants to reconnect the two side of the valley, hiding the new building from a top view.
Under the roof an outdoor theatre open a new view to grapes rows, linking symbolically culture
produced in the winey with the territory.
