Visual Synthesis: Profiling AUB

Brief:
The brief was to create a map the Arts University Bournemouth campus.

Solution:
Our solution is a concept that focuses on the interaction and connection between students at AUB. The purpose of the dome is to act as a problem solving solution for students and is a space accessible to everyone on the campus at all levels. What makes the dome unique is that as soon as you step foot inside, you loose all connection to wifi. Students can no longer access the internet via their phones, laptops and any other electronic devices. This inevitably gives students the opportunity to interact on a first hand basis about their work with other students, discuss ideas and gain help from those of a similar mindset. In addition, only one person from each course is allowed in the dome at a time, as this enables students to start thinking about their work from a different viewpoint and skill set. The dome not only helps academically, but further enables students of AUB to make these connections and links between different courses in a more instant and efficient way.

2 week brief - october 2015

Different colours illustrate the different people in our group knowing other people of different courses. This is represented in the string used in the model.
Construction
Initial construction for a dome.
After Lasercutting was complete we tried putting the dome together however the connectors were not tight due to the template we received was not correct so we used blue tac however that did not work so re-designed the connectors.
Final construction with new connectors.
