To coincide with the opening of Pitti Uomo, the semiannual men’s wear trade show held here, the Fondazione Pitti Discovery had organized “Il Signor Nino,” a retrospective of Mr. Cerruti’s life as seen through his remarkable wardrobe.
“What we wear is an expression of our intelligence and vitality,” the octogenarian added. “What can be perfect on one person on another is a tragedy. Exaggeration and aggressiveness as a way to be different makes no sense when everybody is doing the same different. It’s important to keep a certain balance in mind.”
