First I started drawing the main design without touching the edges of the paper.

After drawing the main picture I cut the paper in four pieces and taped them back together so the pattern would fit. After this step I had to fill the white spaces on te paper. This is my repeat tile.

This is the result of the pattern after digitizing the drawing and turning it into a real pattern in Illustrator.
