This animation is the same animation used in the butterfly learning module. However, I wanted to better detail the process behind creating this asset. Below is a screenshot of my Edge Animate session, which I used to compile the animation. The images were individually edited in Adobe Photoshop to meet my needs. The images were then imported into Edge Animate. I tried to keep the transitions as smooth as possible, so that sudden movements would not distract the user from the information. 

The animation begins by showing a butterfly floating to a flower, where it lays eggs. The user is then shown real world examples of butterfly eggs as a reference point. One of my pet peeves with educational animation, is that it tends to disconnect the information from the real world situations. I wanted to make sure that I included real pictures, so the student can visualize it more realistically in their head when they recall information, but also so they can notice these events taking place in their own backyard. The eggs then hatch, which shows a caterpillar as the product. The caterpillar inches his way towards a bush, where he forms his cocoon. More real world examples are shown, followed by the caterpillar evolving into the same kind of butterfly we saw at the beginning of the animation. I feel as though this shows the full cycle well. 

Once the animation was finalized and completed, I ran into delivery issues. To make this user-friendly, I decided to simply screen capture the animation, transforming it into a QuickTime movie. I then imported the video clips into iMovie, where I added music and textual content. This has made it much easier to transfer the animation as an asset, without worrying about or explaining file management to the party receiving the asset. This is an issue we run into all of the time in the audio industry and it can cause more than a few issues, so I decided to eliminate it as an issue all together.
