I had a lovely time putting together this ensemble for the Tate in spirit of the World Goes Pop exhibition on view now in London! It is inspired by Ushio Shinohara's painting, Doll Festival, from 1966.
The imagery is constructed from elements such as sticks, styrofoam balls, and painted foam, eluding to a physicality that is created from Shinohara's color choices and simplified shapes.
