Reflective Fascination

The nature of metals has fascinated mankind over the centuries, since these materials provided people with tools of unsurpassed properties both in war and in their preparation and processing. Gold and silver were known to man since the Stone Age. Lead and silver were fused from their ores as early as the fourth millennium before Christ and today metal has become a big part of our modern society.
How would we survive without metals today, it is everywhere. It is in your pocket, in our bodies and even in this publication. If the old hip-hop group Aphrodelics only knew how speaking their song title Rollin’ on chrome is for today’s modern society, because the world is literally rollin’ on chrome and other metals.
This printed matter is an homage to the material, its beauty and its functions.
The publication was created to be a part of the Book on the Fritz – Photo Book Exhibition. Therefore I created some metal letters for the books headers with the intentions to fake the experience of being bended metal photographed from above. To draw the connection between the letters and the photographies a bit further I chose to fram the letters and also to print them in blue, just as the photographies.
Reflective fascination was risograph printed at beast studio in an edition of forty.
