The process initially started off with a rough sketch and then certain areas that I was more confident in were refined using ink.
Next, I filled in all the areas that would remain black. I feel as though blacks are important for revealing much of the depth in a piece.
Using only a few shades of gray, I added the shadows using really sharp lines to replicate fur.
Here is the original line work for the helmet. Again, I used black to bring out some of the detail and "shine".
Here is the final result.
