Using Technology to Encourage More Active Social Interaction
In researching the physical, mental, and emotional health of the NC State University community(students, faculty, family), we decided it would be in everyone's benefit to design a series of websites, mobile apps, and large touchscreen interactions to encourage students to live a more healthy lifestyle, however one wishes to interpret healthy. Our team was given the topic of "play." Thus, we designed a mobile app interface as well as a website wherein users would either A) engage in an adapted version of Hide & Seek or B) participate in a site that recommends various ideas to go outside and play. The goal was to create some sort of interaction with either people, or nature. Whichever they used, we aimed to get them moving around and having fun in simple ways.
