Parasitic Distortion

FALL 2015
The instrument is a hybrid between a microscope and an overhead projector. The object is composed of several pieces establishing a ‘part to whole’ relationship. The goal was to design an analytical object that would present new findings of fungi; that would otherwise be missed by the naked eye.

Relationships between light, micro-lenses, and fungi come together to form a varied projection of distorted imagery. The distorted representation allows the user to experience strange casual loops within the autonomous instrument. The ‘hyperobject’ becomes realized in a visual manifestations of micro-organisms.
