When we first started working with our friends at Jack in the Box, we all knew that a website redesign was on the near horizon. Their old site relied on outdated technology and offered little in terms of flexibility and longevity. Starting with a deep-dive into User Experience (research, UX design, user journeys) and Information Architecture (wireframes, prototypes), we settled on an approach that focuses on Jacks fast-food loving, mobile audience. After designing and building a rock-solid structure to support primary user objectives, we took every opportunity to deliver the off-beat, and unexpected humor that has made the Jack in the Box brand a favorite with Millennials.
The new site includes daytime and nighttime versions, Easter Eggs hidden in the location finder (try "CHINA"), a zipper that unleashes animated GIFs, and variable product backgrounds (Wolf Moon, Jungle Cat). To complete the experience, Jack even pitched in with "his own version of the site": http://awesome.jackinthebox.com/.
