Once concepts were approved as a black and white line visuals the fun really began. Originally it had been perceived that imagery would be illustrative, however, a photographic solution was settled on. Creating a garden scene that was flexible enough for this unfolding story was one thing, but getting the shots of squirrels that were required was quite another.
We knew from the outset that this would be better pieced together, to allow us the control needed to move things around, so over a week one sunny August I trogged around the Isle of Wight shooting various plants and trees that would later be cut out and used in this montage. From close-ups of leaves and tree trunks, to panoramics of lawns.
The tricky bit was getting the squirrels of Regents Park in London to perform for us. Armed with nuts as bait, and a fishing rod arrangement of bamboo cane and string, my assistant and I managed to get our furry actors to do a perfect job whilst entertaining tourists relaxing in the
