Each student read a chapter of Giants of the Earth and we had to convert our readings into image. My chapter was about the women of the book. It portrays the mothers and how they are sad they can't provide for their kids as well as how they do nothing but gossip and fight with their husbands. At the end of my chapter, a character dies from stealing another mans land. 

The book was based on a Norwegian pioneer family and their journey to make a new life in the Dakota Territory. I decided to explore a 1950's housewife theme for most of my spreads. The desperateness and unappreciated responsibilities of the 50's housewife came to mind when I read my chapter. The bright, bubbly pop art theme contrasts the depressing imagery but also feeds the 1950's theme. For my last spread, I wanted to capitalize on impreding death and create a visual that sticks with you.
