Guitarstar is a guitar playing app for users of all ages to enjoy! It was created for the launch of the new BlackBerry PlayBook and was featured in a BlackBerry promotional video in Madrid, Spain!
User Flows & Sketches
As we developed the flows the home menu idea was quickly scrapped, we didn’t need to give our users any extra steps and the app launched immediately into the first guitar.
Early sketches are a good way to get thoughts out and foresee potential problems that will needed to be tested.
Early Development - Control Testing
String size area highlighted in red, testing for ideal width for users to pluck. We tested usability in-house to determine the correct size to make the strings and their touch area. We continually tweaked the strings until we achieved the desired ease of use.
When we began testing for “tutorial” or “song mode” we received feedback to also include a recording mode to save songs. This would be great additional features for to add in if the launch was well received. We still had a minimally viable product so we launched with the set of guitars only.
