Football Strip Concepts is a personal project I began in 2009 to document the many kits I design. Creating football kits for teams at the highest level of the game has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I illustrate these ideas in order to bring them to life.
Playing with the concept of the football shirt is my passion. To look at how kits can be affected by a sponsor, to test new ways of interpreting stripes, fits and collars – and all the while respecting team colours. I enjoy second-guessing future designs, distorting kits by experimenting with branding, and using kits as a canvas for reflecting a nation’s history or diversity.
Inside this current edition of Football Strip Concepts are designs inspired by my recent trip around South America and a project looking at the football strip of 2025. I also answer one question that’s been on my mind for a long time: what would my two favourite fashion brands design for the field of play?
