lviii. DOD 250, aka GuitarPCB Emexar

This is my second attempt at a DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp, the first attempt being the very first guitar pedal I ever made. That build is right at the bottom of this website, and here we are 7 years and 50+ builds later before I even attempt to build myself a backup of my favorite overdrive, which has been gigged with and toured with and used and abused, and hasn't crapped out on me once. That is still the case, and last week I built 2 spares.
Unlike my first one, this build features a diode clipping switch. Like my first one, the PCB gave me the option of building any of a few extremely similar yet tonally unique distortions that are based around the same schematic. Last time I had the choice I chose the DOD blindly, and I'm glad that I did. What a great overdrive. All the tube screamers and klons and zendrives and everything else have come and gone on and off my pedalboard, but the 250 always comes back. Something is always missing without it.
This enclosure features Frog Footman from Alice in Wonderland. I've put a double-stacked LM741 under the hood for extra gain or something. I've yet to compare directly what the difference is, but I'm sure it's probably marginal. We shall see.
