Home Energy Monitoring

One of our prime motives (vision) was looking at conservation of energy. Although we knew that actively conserving energy has always been a challenge, when exploring ‘electricity monitoring’, it is a theme that recurs in the thinking process. As the research progressed and we got a clear picture of the problem space we are dealing with, we got to know what areas to impact in order to achieve our prime motive. Along with conservation of energy, users’ monetary saving was an area that could have potential design intervention. To make the whole design of the Joule Jotter sustainable, along with conserving energy, sustained involvement (of the user) was also a prime motive.

Vision Statement: To bring a product-service for Indian homes that provides power monitoring for users to make decisions around its usage and consumption
