The Cooperativa cultural Acrítica, invited me to participate in the exhibition "Carmo é nome de mulher" (Carmo is a female name), that was inaugurated this past 5th of September, in Carmo'81, in Viseu.
For this self portrait, i was inspired by a speech writen by Virginia Woolf, in 1931, for the "National Society for Womens Service". This writer always battled for gender equality, specially intellectual. I took up the concept of the "angel of the house", a kind of ghost that haunts women, encouraging them to stay in the place predestined to them, by a misogynist society.
