Argyle Street Pilot Project

The Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC) collaborated with Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) and the Planning and Design Centre (pdcentre.ca) on the Argyle Street streetscaping pilot project to explore the potentials of a pedestrian-centric streetscape plan for a future Argyle Street in the heart of Halifax's entertainment district. With minimal interventions, the interaction with the street was dramatically shifted using only a program of events plus a striking roadway paint scheme for this 7 week pilot project.

Breakhouse partner Peter Wünsch maintained a strategic role on the design team throughout and directed the graphic design component.
Celebrated architect and urban designer Jan Gehl – the man who's known for making Copenhagen the bicycle capital of the world – takes a leisurely stroll down Argyle street during his visit to Halifax.
