The Jelly Bloom design is intended to emulate the fluidity and gracefulness of the jellyfish movement, and echoes the synchronised effect a bloom of jellyfish create when they swim together. We set out to create a sculpture that is cohesive with the space and uses its elements; wind, water and is appropriate to the environment as jellyfish are often seen cruising the Wellington harbour. The motion of the jellyfish is reflected onto the rippling surface of the water, again, intertwining the man-made sculpture with the environment enhanced through the use of the Kayne Maile material.
