Bulbo make indoor LED lamps for growing herbs and vegetables indoors made of high quality artisan materials from their base in Bologna, Italy. The LED technology that they use is professional grade and produces great results, allowing you to grow your own vegetables in a tiny flat. They have based their whole ethos from the slow food movement, and are trying to revolutionise the way we see food starting in the home.

 

This brief was to design a trade stand that reflects the company's ideologies, with easy to source materials and a structure that is easy to assemble and transport.

 

I designed a space that combines the ideas of magic with the reality of home-grown fruit and vegetables. The space is 3x3x12m and is made of a timber frame structure, reinforced by wooden pallets. The entrance contains a forest made of home-grown fruits and vegetables, with a canopy made of suspended Bulbo lamps, users would pick some fruits, herbs and vegetables and move on to the smoothie station where a Bulbo sales rep would take their produce and turn it into a delicious smoothie that they could enjoy in the Bulbo living space! This journey takes them from picking fresh produce made possible by these lamps, to creating and consuming their smoothies in a home-like space, giving users the oppertunity to imagine actually owning this product.
