Huerto a la vuelta de la esquina

Huerto a la vuelta de la esquina is a social innovation project, that uses a community vertical orchard system, that aims to educate people by didactically teach about the importance of a sustainable use of resources, upgrading their life quality, and generating interaction and motivation through a healthy experience with the green environment.
Users are mostly people displaced by violence, who poses agricultural knowledge that is commonly wasted in the urban context, where they tend to find jobs that do not match their previous lifestyle.
The system is mainly made out of bamboo and cultivation sacks, specifically because they are materials that the community works with, thus people can replace damaged parts in a long term and also learn how to build the entire system themselves.
It has an irrigation system using reused plastic bottles. There are two layers, the first containing the water and the second covers. The water is condensing on the walls of the latter, keeping the earth constantly hydrated.
The project aims to promote self-consumption and generate incomes for the community creating social inclusion for marginalized populations in Santiago de Cali periphery, achieving this through a business model and a campaign, Botanikit is the product that shows to as many people as possible the work that is being done.
