In today's technologically rich and dependent worldthe Internet plays a crucial role in children’s lives inboth home and classroom. Ward (2007) states that theuse of information and communication technologies (ICT),including the Internet, has developed over the past 25 years andnow involves every pupil and member of staff in an educationalinstitution. “Such powerful technologies have their dangers andsociety is still struggling to react adequately to the issues raised”(Ward, 2007, p.3).

These issues include, but are not limited to; malicious software, data theft and predators. Risk situations that can arise from thesemay occur and how the children respond to these risk situationscomes down to the already instilled education received in schoolor at home. Studies show that while protecting children at schoolis important, education about Internet protective behaviours isnecessary to protect them elseware and it it is essential that educa-tional institutions work in partnership with families to teach thechildren strategies wherever they use the Internet.

As a consequence of this I have developed a design project thatoffers an additional aid for teachers in the education of children(aged between 6 and 11) on the dangers and risks of Internetsafety (Cybersafety).
