For the 2015 D&AD Pantone Competition I decided to create a project for the city Berlin, Germany.
The project included a new corporate identity for the city that could be sold as a new and attractive merchandise.

Regular merchandise that's available for tourists are similar in almost every capital city in Western society.
For instant the mugs and bags with "I love Berlin" are identical to the shirts and mugs from Paris. I wished to create a type of merchandise that would appeal to both tourists as citizens of Berlin. The name of this project and the corporate identity is "Experience Berlin".
Through the use of colours, hand picked from photo's of famous places and tourists attractions in Berlin, I wanted to show the different colours and feelings of Berlin. Instead of showing a picture of for instant The East Side Gallery, I visualized the overall feeling of the wall through the placing of coloured squares. The squares are based on the Pantone colour sheets.
Posters matching the merchandise would be placed around town to display additional background information about the attraction or place that is being visualized. This would also promote the new merchandise.
The merchandise consists of t-shirts, canvas tote bags and postcards.
To fully "Experience Berlin" and showcase the creative side of Berlin, the colourful pantone squares are also placed playfully around town, nearby creative and less popular sight seeing spots. They act as both a guidance system, and as a colourful addition to the city.
All merchandise would be available for sale in every tourist shop around town but also in museum shops.
