Macau's Inner Harbour is located in the west of the Macau Peninsula, overlooking Zhuhai's Wan Chai district. It was once the major transportation and trade waterway in Macau with more than 30 wharfs and docks along the habour. After the relocation of the Hong Kong-Macau Terminal and the decline of fishing industry, Inner Harbour is rapidly loosing its economic vitality and is in the great need of revitalization.
Three design principles are introduced as the core idea for the revitalization, which focuses on creating a full linkage with the overall Macau tourism trail, creating varieties of program and activities as well as creating a strong identity in regional scale.
The space and visual armosphere is designed to offer rich spatial experience. This can be achieved through combination of modern and classic-portugese architecture, different scale and variety of programs.
Two activity anchors are put on both end of the site in north and south. Leisure and gambling facilities on the south and recreational facilites on the north. To enlive the whole area, different varieties of programs are being injected between the two anchors.
