ORIGAME minimum living unit - contest 2015

Designed living unit is an attempt to meet the needs of young people who are trying to find their place to live. With minimal area of 12 m2 it includes all necessary functions - place to sleep, to cook, to work, to wash up and to store.
A small living unit was placed on the rooftop of a multistorey building. It gives a possibility of using an undeveloped space while giving a sense of freedom and control which appear when looking at horizon. This is the feeling every young person would appreciate.

The fuctions of the space are changeable so maximum space usage is achieved. Inside the cupboards there is a special place for table and chairs, which are hidden at night, so they make a place for the bed which is hidden inside the floor. In four recesses there is a place for a bathroom, a kitchen, a small winter garden with a hanging armchair and for a closet.

The inspiration for this unusual form was Japanese origami art. This multi-surfaced shape based on triangles was a key to avoid the impression of living in a cube or
a container, and helped in creating a comfortable, homogeneous space.
