This composition was a just-for-fun project.
I came across a site about Cos Players and the lengths that some of
the players go to in creating their costumes. It is quite impressive
artistically and technically.
THE CHALLENGE
Choose a Cos Player's original photo,
alter/enhance the environment and mood,
giving it a full conceptual "comic book" treatment.

When I saw this series by Naomi Von Kreeps I knew instantly that her back
drops were not capturing the mood of the character.
After a bit of research I sourced a background with a big city feel and a specific time,
that being at night to really create a real moody vibe.

I then looked through the archives of the Scarlet Witch to see her character and her abilities. I came across a drawing by Frank Cho that was a perfect visual reference. This enabled me to create a dramatic point for the CP (Cos Player) where something big is about to happen.
After some refinement to the background and a gradient blur, keeping
the focal point on the CP, I created the "dramatic point" inspired by the
Frank Cho illustration.

And as the original photo was during day time I had to change light sources and
drop shadows as shown partially at the bottom of the pic.
It was a happy coincidence of the main character placement and the lamp
post illumination. It gives a nice glow effect around her
head empowering her energy even more.

Because of all the light and enviroment changes I have to give more warmth
to the CP and take out the colour dullness where highlights are needed.
Voila, here we have more warmth and necessary backlight.

And that is the finished article. I am quite happy with the result as I think it is convincing enough where all the pieces fit nicely together.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and checking out my work.
