About the Design
Few of the distinctive features of the Audi R9 Panigale are: The canopy-like design of the cockpit, to enhance the driving experience by making you feel more exposed to the element with incredible visibility outside, an experience comparable only with a superbike or a go-kart racer.
The whole body has been shaped to minimize drag starting from the teardrop shaped cabin, specially designed front fenders around the front wheels to control the airflow, etc. In contrast the rear wheels create a lot of drag by being exposed but it is a compromise worth taking in spite of visual drama.
The Downforce/Drag ratio is controlled thanks to the ActiveAeroPackage, which includes the front splitter, rear wing, the underfloor flaps and the rear diffuser, actively controlled to provide the downforce levels needed in any scenario. All this impressive package comes with and a high performance Power Unit coupled with a center-mounted exhaust that are there to enhance the racing feeling visually and acoustically.
