Guillermo Marquez's profile

VACS, Medical Equipment

VACS is part of a Health Care Platform developed by Matersys Group, aimed to continously monitor elderly people's vital signs.

Using optical and thermal sensors, VACS analyses the patient’s vital signals, which are constantly sent to a web-based plattform. Through a mobile device application, doctors receive real-time information of patients’ vital signs and precise geographical location, timely enough to prevent further heart complications.
The on-board computer features 4G communication, Bluetooth and Mirco USB connectivity, GPS antenna, accelerometer, 12-hour battery and high processing capacity for on-board advanced data analysis.

The innovation process required not only the electronic's architecture and software development, but its integration into a wearable, appealing device that could fit seamlessly in people’s lives. Enhanced ergonomics and clean surfaces improve its usability.
Functional 3D-printed prototype with integrated electronics.
Dummies and prototypes evolution process.
CAD development for the overall product architecture.
Product sketches. Exploration of concept and form languages.
Early prototypes were focused in signals analysis rather than technology miniaturization.
