AGDA event at VIVID 2015 - Work In Progress

For the AGDA event at VIVID 2015, distinguished thinkers, makers, innovators and disrupters across art, design and digital were invited to share their personal ideas and experiences on the what, how, why and when of always-on projects.

Paul Garbett designed the artwork based on the theme of what it means to be ‘always on'. The design expresses the often chaotic nature of this phenomenon, with streams of thought and activity changing and overlapping to create something new.

I've been a big fan of Garbett's work for a long time and it was great to be able to collaborate on this animation. We wanted the style of the movement to reflect the message in the design with ideas overlapping each other and layering up, going in different directions and trying different things. The layers draw onto screen at slightly random times, adding to the chaos, but then all coming together.

The eclectic mix of sound nods to the creative process and reiterates the theme of 'always on'. You'll hear a balloon pop, soda fizz, scribble, paper tear, water plop, toilet flush, zipper, camera flash, type writer ding and a bunch of other sounds that loosely relate to the ups and downs of the creative process.

I've included some of Garbett's images and process of the poster design below. The final poster was screen printed and looked fantastic as it came off the printer.
