Founded in 1952, the Rhys Davies brand has a long history behind it. In the last 20 years, the business has grown from a single base in South Wales to a national company with nine depots throughout the UK. But although the business had moved forward significantly over that time, the brand had not moved with it.
 
We challenged internal perceptions within the company. Their existing brand sold the business short and did not reflect their position as one of the leaders in their market. The success of the business is actually a result of a complex logistical operation – the trucks are simply the tools of their trade. So we set about redefining their brand to tell the real story.
 
Once our process had established the unique characteristics of the brand, we developed a visual identity for the brand that enabled us to carry multiple brand messages. These were big brand statements designed to reflect the boldness and positivity of the business. This approach is unique within the sector and is a step away from the traditional single strapline approach of their competitors. It sets the Rhys Davies brand apart and has helped to shift previous perceptions of the business as a small regional company to a more accurate picture of a serious national market leader.
But the rebranding process not only shifted external perceptions towards the business – it changed the way they saw themselves. And this will be a significant step in the future growth of the business.
