Das Buch nimmt Position ein zu einem aktuellen Thema: Landwirtschaft und Umweltschutz. Mit nur noch 285.000 landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben in Deutschland - das sind 135.000 weniger, als noch vor 10 Jahren - ist der Bezug zum Boden und zur Pflanze bei immer weniger Menschen gegeben. Doch auch, wer nur einen Balkon oder ein Fenstersims hat, dem ist es möglich, sich zu informieren und auch selber tätig zu werden.
In der “Kleinen Anthologie des Gärtners” regen persönliche Notizen und Skizzen dazu an, zu entdecken; gleichzeitig bringen externe Texte die nötige Informationsdichte. Texte, aus verschiedenen, teils wissenschaftlichen Quellen bilden hier die Anthologie im nicht-klassischen Sinne. Als entspannende Elemente finden sich im Buch immer wieder eigene, schwarzweiße, analoge Fotografien. Die Illustrationen haben Unterhaltungscharakter und zeigen den persönlichen Zugang zum Thema, der die Strenge der Texte aufbricht.

From the balcony we can look into various directions - one can choose to look at the world around, the sky, one can look at the plants and how they grow, one can look inside, pondering about the kitchen and food, and one can take a look into the soul as well. Whilst my Bachelor of Arts at HTW Berlin I engaged in green topics such as gardening, seed politics, food waste and so on. My aim was to create a book that shows a very personal, raw side (the illustrations) and also provides solid information that comes from specialist literature - I compiled texts from external sources (all authors and sources are listed in the list of references at the end) and combined those with my analogue black and white photography.
