The goal with this individual project was to design and manufacture a structure using CATIA and 3D printing technology.
I used CATIA to develop a parametric CAD model of the structure of a Quadcopter.
The studies included:
· Parametrization of most of the variables.
· Design of a lightweight structure with minimum material.
· Structural analysis to test flexions of arms and supports.
· Assembly simulation of the electronics to make sure all the elements would fit within the structure.
· Wiring to leave enough room for wires and optimize electronics position and orientation.
Several prototypes were built, through extrusion (FDM) and light polymerised (SLA) methods, and with each of them the global design was iterated and improved.
