The parent company of AMT/ERTL, Racing Champions, had a line of successful die-cast cars called "Full Throttle." Racing Champions wanted to play off of that success by branding a line of existing model kits with the "Full Throttle" name. For the kits to be part of the line, they would need to be updated with new components. The existing kits would be sold with the new components allowing a builder to build and customize their kit to the level of their choosing based upon the components that they wanted to use.
My task was to do a series of concept sketches and part drawings based upon two of their model kits, a 1968 Camaro, and a 1970 'Cuda. The parts would need to fit and work on existing parts, especially the main body. Hoods, ground FX, wheels, tires, and spoilers would be the primary focus. A new chassis would also need to be designed for each vehicle style that would allow the car to sit lower and fit larger tires under the body.
