The crunchy munch co!

Soup & sandwich project

The soup & sandwich brief was to design a new identity (including the name) and packaging for a new outlet selling gourmet food from the police box in Buchannan Street. The slogan was “smart eating for busy people” and the company took pride in selling fresh, organic and healthy fast food at an affordable price.

The target market was students and business people who wanted healthy food but didn’t have time to compare calories. The app was designed so the target market could check the daily specials on public transport on their way to work.

My concept was power! (which comes from the food)

The overall look?
The identity itself had to be strong enough to stand out on the high street but still needed to look quite friendly and charming. However for the packaging consideration in to reducing waste (restricted colour palette and lifecycle of the packaging) was also important. I chose the elongated font antonia for the logo as elongated fonts are quite trendy at the moment and used abstract shapes and bold colours to really convey the freshness and power gained from the food.

The logo changes colour with the product and features a subtle little energy bar.

GREEN! sandwiches
ORANGE! soup
PURPLE! anything extra

What was required?
- soup cup design
- sandwich box design
- napkin design
- bag design
- policebox design

Inspiration and research!
When I was researching for this project I looked at a vast range of sources. I looked at the actual packaging of the competitos of the store and at bold patterns and shapes (even wallpaper). My biggest inspiration for this project was saul bass and actual cut up vegetables themself.

My thoughts!
As stressfull as this project was i really enjoyed it. I got to experiment with textured paper, textures and lots of ink and pen. By the end i was knackered but what i enjoyed most from this project was actually creating the patterns.
