To challenge myself and gain some experience in label design, I decided to create a whiksey brand and screen print the labels myself. Most whiskey labels are these elegant, proper feeling pieces. I hadn’t really encountered a whiskey label that had a quirky character, so I that was my initial goal in creating this piece. I wanted to bring in a sign painter-esque feel, while utilizing my typeface Davy Crockett. Originally I had planned to call this “Pendleton Bourbon.” But, I received an email from an angry lawyer telling me I couldn’t use the name, even if it was a personal project. Even though this is not true, I decided to change the name to avoid any unneeded headache.
