Overview
Bait Al Serkal is an Arabic traditional house refined to become an art exhibition venue for Sharjah Art Foundation. It is located at the heart of Sharjah, next to the old souq, Souq Al Arsa. Our intent for this project is to create a historical documentary about the house as it carries a distinct past. The history of the house has no record of it in any form except rare pictures. The past stories are carried out by word of mouth from the people who lived there or were frequent visitors.
Primary Audience
This documentary is geared towards history enthusiasts and visitors of Bait Al Serkal. It acts as a reference of the house’s history prior to it becoming an art exhibition venue.
Tone and Image
The documentary will be formal in its structure and narrated from the house's point of view. We assume that most of the audience believe that Bait Al Serkal went from the ownership of the Serkal family to an art exhibition venue and completely missed out on it being a hospital and previously owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qassimi.
Deliverables
We will be delivering a written record in a book format, of our research, and a short documentary about the house.
The documentary’s visuals will consist of videos and animated illustrations. The book will consist of the researched history we have gathered, and an augmented reality application integrated within the book, using markers for the purpose of enhancing the book and the viewers experience.
