Catoctin Breeze Vineyard Composer Wine Series

THE STORY
Seated along the rolling hills of Eastern Appalachia’s Catoctin Mountains, Catoctin Breeze is more than a vineyard. It’s an experience. Among the many wineries that pepper the region, it’s a breath of fresh air. It’s Catoctin Breeze. This multi-award-winning winemaker produces a range of varietal, blended, and honey wines.

When the winemakers developed a whole new line of wines, they wanted the series’ theme to be based on their love of classical music. Together, we composed a work of art.

THE SOLUTION
Since each varietal would be named after a notable composition, this felt like the perfect opportunity to feature the composers in a whole new way.

The likenesses of each? Swirling, whimsical, melodic illustrations created by yours truly the old school way—with a pencil and sketchbook. For inspiration, I listened to each respective composition, and allowed the movements and fluctuations of the music to guide my hand and heart. The label? A clean, minimalist design showcased on simple, white linen paper stock to match that of sheet music.

All told, a total of twelve illustrations and labels were created for this series. Who says classical music can’t be sophisticated AND fun? Especially when you have amazing wine to get you in the spirit.
