In pursuit to see the first sunlight.
Pasir Berbisik".

I underestimated the place. I woke up at 3AM to reach at the photo-taking spot with other visitors and photographers to catch the first glimpse of the sun, greeting that particular day. The journey and passing over the mountain ridges proved to be such mysterious and majestic place. Again, I underestimated my country. The mountains looked like the mountains I visited around Europe. And in the country where I was born, there was such a place.

December 2009
The dramatic entrance of the movie, captured early dawn while doing a horseback ride, urging forward to the foot of the mountain.

Now that sounds like some cheesy cowboy opening. Nonetheless, meant for that to be a laughable pick-up.
To get to the tourist photo spot, it was another hike, which I don't recall how many meters, but I sure do know it was very annoying and superbly chilly while hiking through. Yes, the roads ascended way up, and when we arrived, there were many vehicles that has halted and parked. And it was brutally dark because the moon still shone brightly, after about half hour to one hour ride from the hotel I stayed. Waiting like the rest,

the sun slowly started to show.
My favorite cotton candy sky above the Bromo Mt.
The stairs to reach the top of the mountain, not much to see as for an active crater.
Riding back home, the skies have turned blue.
I have to say the standard living of my country is very low - and this, proves it so. If chances you're living under high electrical towers and it can fall on you anytime due to tremors of the active mountain to people stealing knots and locks from the tower, you'll never know.

To reach the place, we needed to use horses, where a flock of them with their owners were waiting their daily meal and income.
If you omit the horses, it feels like Europe (maybe partly because of my "I LOVE LUCERNE" hat?)
But adding these horses, I felt I was like in the Moroccan highlands or something. But now I can proudly say,

This place is in Indonesia.
