knock on wood is a reflexion about the difference between living and lasting. Accept the ephemeral and life's delicacy, and consider that thinking about death is just clarifying what really matters to us. Its aim is analyzing the list of things to do before dying for a group of people that differ in their life stages.

Acepta lo efímero y la delicadeza de la vida y considera que pensar en la muerte no hace más que aclarar lo que realmente es importante para nosotros mismos. Tiene como finalidad analizar listas de cosas por hacer antes de morir de un grupo de personas que se encuentran en etapas de la vida dispares.
‘knock on wood’ is an expression used to put off the evil and attract good luck. Its origin comes from pagan cultures from the old times. Trees were thought to be settled by nature spirits and people often joined them to their rituals and worship. People normally touched wood wishing to get good luck to achieve something. Therefore, one mentioned this wish to the tree before the first slight knock on the bark, immediately came the second knock that meant ‘thank you’. Somehow the sound produced by the knockings avoided that bad spirits may listen the speech and interfere with it. The knocked tree was an oak, as it was the tree that always received the bolt lightnings and it was believed to be some god’s dwelling.
‘knock on wood’ es una expresión que se utiliza para alejar el mal y atraer la buena suerte. Deriva de las culturas paganas del antiguo mundo. Creían que los árboles estaban habitados por espíritus de la naturaleza y, a menudo, los incorporaban en sus rituales y culto. Las personas, tocaban madera cuando tenían la necesidad de tener buena suerte para conseguir algo. Para ello, uno mencionaba este deseo al árbol y después, daba un pequeño golpe tocando la corteza. De seguido, daba otro golpe que significaba ‘gracias’. De esta manera, el sonido que emitían estos golpes evitaba que los malos espíritus escucharan el discurso y lo interfirieran. El árbol que tocaban para pedir que se realizaran sus deseos era el roble, ya que era al árbol sobre el que siempre caían los rayos y creían que era la morada de algún dios.
