The Café Cuba Website: MS DOS Style

The Idea:
Café Cuba was positioned as an 'underground revolution'. The kind that brews in dark rooms and back alleys, spoken of in underbellies and under the breaths.

Or, in the backchannels of the internet.

The launch of this revolution online had to have the air of subversion. So, we took inspiration from hackers and designed an entire website using just ASCII characters. And then surrendered it to the will of the web.

www.CafeCuba.in became the first Indian website to be featured as the 'Site of the Day' by the FWA and AWWWARDS.

The Experience:
If you long onto CafeCuba.in, the site greets you with your IP address.
It is as if you've been contacted by the comrades of a revolution.
The entire website can be accessed using just your keyboard, without having to touch the mouse
even once.
It leads you through the story of the underground revolution, told with the help of ASCII animation and chip music.

But that's only half the story.

To witness the rest, you have to enter a password. You can either figure the password yourself, or interact with our guy, @TheCubaGuy on Twitter for it.

For the launch, as people cracked this code, we broke our commercial online before it was even aired on TV.
The UI is designed to adapt to all screens.
