Summary: The bamboo and the chicken represents Bamboo Chicken (Manok Pansoh), which is one of the traditional food of Sarawak.The bamboo and the body of the chicken was made out from water container with paper mache for the design while the feathers of the chicken was made by overlapping plastic spoons. Inside the stomach of the chicken are traditional food of Sarawak, Laksa, and Sarawak traditional rice wine, Tuak. The wings of the chicken was made out of traditional fabric, Puah Kumbu, while the paddle-like things on the wings represent paddle from the dragon boat of Dragon Boat Festival which is celebrated by the Chinese in Sarawak annually. The poles behind the chicken are traditional Totem poles of Iban, a native of Sarawak. Straws in front of the chicken is a traditional game played by Sarawakian kids in the olden days, especially in the village as back in the days, people in the village could not affort toys for their children so they made their own toys out of bamboos and tree trunks instead. The base of the entire sculpture was designed in the pattern of a traditional batik of Sarawak called Puah Kumbu.
