The Photography carries within itself the Memory. We are afraid to forget the present and lose it forever. We need to preserve the moment, because we believe that photography enables us to relive the present in the future. The Photography is the representation of  people who are no longer here and of moments that never will return. The past’s perfect memories are transformed into something eternal through the photographic record. Using the images, we relive moments and rediscover people. Thus, Photography takes us to Immortality, a “quite earthy immortality of those who after their death remain in the memory of posterity” (MILAN KUNDERA).

The "Ausência (Absence)" project is an essay about Photography and Time and how we construct or deconstruct our memory through Photography. We cherish the past’s memories and waste the present time designing what we believe that will perpetuate, the “photographs give people an imaginary possession of a past that is unreal” (SUSAN SONTAG). The whole project revolves around the Absence: those who are no longer here, the moments that will not return, and ourselves, living lives obsessed with collecting memories.
