I was tasked with the job of redesigning the logo and facebook cover picture for a close, and very talented friend's musical project which is rapidly gaining poplarity via Facebook.

The basic idea was to not restrict the mind to a single genre or instrument, as was the philosophy of his movement. Hence, I decided to use more global symbols and more generic concepts related to music.
The second of the three designs above caught my friend's eye and he asked me to work on it. He liked the concept and the simplicity.
So I went ahead and minimalized it further, and made a simple, yet beautiful symbol consisting of a teneto and a beamed note, to mimic the intials of Project Unplugged ( ' P U ' ), and a thin font to write the name.

After adding a subtle shadow to the background, I showed it to him, and he loved it!
We finalized the logo, and I made an alternate cropped version as shown below that he could use as a Facebook Display Picture.
Then I proceeded to make the cover pic as shown on top. I wanted to some restrained vibrancy to contrast and at the same time complement the elegance of the logo.
