Naked House - Shigeru Ban

The concept of this house comes from the client demand to Shigeru Ban: a house that offers less privacy so that family members are not separated from each other, a house that gives everyone the freedom of having individual activities in a sharing atmosphere in the middle of a unified family.

This property is on the edge of a river and is surrounded by fields and greenhouses that inspired the architect.

The outer walls consist of two sheets of reinforced plastics corrugated fiber and inner walls consist of a nylon fabric. These two walls are mounted on a wood frame which accomodates transparent plastic bags attached to each other, filled with foamed polyethylene insulation.

With these bags a soft and diffused light fills the interior of the house. The latter consists of a single large space of two stories high in which four personal rooms on wheels can be moved freely according to their use.

The space is completely open, the modules that make up the rooms are  considered as intimate space for the family members.
