Breaking Bad - Methylamine

Breaking Bad is just one of those shows that will always be iconic to us all, and honestly it's legendary.

In this project I wanted to create an illustration that isn’t perfect but something that represents the dark realistic vibes we get from the television show. The first steps to this design was an outline which was hand drawn through illustrator. After creating the outline I processed the outline through Photoshop. Based off of personal preference I feel Photoshop presents colors more fluently compared to Illustrator. As we can see through the two characters I created based off of the show Breaking Bad; I colored each character with a drawing tablet. Intentionally I made the shading as if this was sketched with pastels or colored pencils. I am sure there are a few viewers who wouldn’t understand why, but I feel art isn’t meant to be perfect vectors throughout an entire canvas. Lastly I feel the sketched look is symbolic towards the characters imperfection throughout the entire series. Ending with the last object in the background is the methylamine symbol that was introduced in season 3. This symbol became dominant as well as appealing to viewers like me. I created this vector through Illustrator as well, but it was a last minute decision instead of including the Breaking Bad logo.

Overall I really hope everyone enjoys what I have created based off of the inspiration of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman of Breaking Bad. If anyone would like me to design more of these through a series of illustrations please let me know!
