Traditional Mughal Miniature Painting

Mughal painting is a particular style of South Asian painting, generally confined to miniatures either as book illustrations or as single works to be kept in albums, which emerged from Persian miniature painting. Mughal painting was essentially a court art. The subjects treated were generally secular, consisting of illustrations to historical works and Persian and Indian literature, portraits of the emperor and his court, studies of natural life, and genre scenes. I specifically chose an emperor in armor, centrally composed with various different miniature elements taken from different sources. The pattern in the border is called illumination which is made by repetition of single element, with the essential use of gold paint or gold leaves.
