Lancaster University Safer Sex Ball 2015

Each year, the County College Welfare Team is responsible for organizing the Safer Sex Bell - an event that seeks to raise awareness about safe sex, sexually-transmitted illnesses and consent amongst Lancaster University students. This year, we chose to go with the theme of 'It's always black and white.' This was meant to illustrate that, when it comes to consent, STIs and safe sex, there is no gray area - it's a question of yes or no, safe or unsafe, being smart about STIs or being rash. Thus, each of the promotional designs uses only black and white.

The logo was a new addition to the event this year, with a coy twist incorporated into the overlapping of the letters and b. The white circular background enabled the logo to stand out from the other details on the promotional designs and was intentionally created with the potential of turning it into a button, badge, or pin in mind.

We created a number of different posters for variety and freshness, hoping to draw students' attention by using catchy, but still relatively appropriate, phrases that stood out against the black background and emphasized the values that we hoped to promote through the event.

Poster No. 3  /  'Wrap it then tap it.'
Poster No. 4  /  'You won't know unless you ask.'    *referring both to consent and STIs
We had originally planned on setting up a special 'sex-themed' cocktail menu for the event, featuring the above suggestions. However, we were ultimately forced to discard the idea due to time constraints.
