Teatro de la Abadía - 20 years

Behance.net
Teatro de La Abadía is one the most historical theatres in Madrid, known for playing the finest spanish contemporary theatre. It is based at the former Church of La Sagrada Familia. The company focuses on the proximity of the stage and the audience, sharing a sense of intelligent pleasure. The theatre functions as well as a study centre, combining the creation and presentation of shows with an artistic and human search for excellence through workshops, meetings and other events.

In 2015 the Theatre celebrates it's 20th anniversary. Along with it comes a completely renovated identity and visual system.

In collaboration with the photographer Fernando Maselli we took pictures of various objects that have been part of the scenery over 20 years. These objets are central in the identity and they appear across several formats.

Teatro de La Abadía is also in charge of the programming of the Corral de Comedias de Alcalá de Henares, an open-air theatre build in 1601. In the 18th Century it was transformed into a neoclasic coliseum, roofed by means of a series of beams, which improved its acoustics, especially for musical events. The Corral was abandoned for several decades, but recently restorated and reopened in 2005 as a theatrical space with a permanent program for a wide audience.
