'I AM...' ZINE | Personal Camouflage

'i am...' Zine

'i am…' Zine is a result of a college project entitled 'Personal Camouflage', where we had to design a zine and camouflage that reflects something about ourselves that we may disguise. I chose to base this on my childhood as this is something that I had subconsciously had a negative view towards most of my life, when in fact it is my past that has made who I am today. To link the camouflage and the zine together, I chose to continue the subject of my childhood throughout the content

The camouflage featured on the front of the cover is formed out of pieces of illegible ephemera from my childhood to represent the memories associated with it, and how it's something that is not clear on first glance. To add another dimension of interaction with the viewer, a red acetate sleeve was incorporated within the camouflage to reveal the name of the zine, 'i am…'. This is representative of revealing what you're disguising, to act as an anti-camouflage and encourage the viewer to end the sentence.

This brief was inspired by the Vorticist Movement, Wyndham Lewis' 'Blast!' Zine, Steganography, Stefan Sagmeister's book 'Made You Look' and Typeforce 'The Annual Chicago Show of Typographic Allstars'.
